DAR Museum Opens May 15
On
Saturday, May 15, the DAR museum on Rte 23 north will open for the season.
Operated by The Chinkchewunska Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, the museum is open to the public on Thursdays and Saturdays
between 1 and 4 p.m. through October 15. Donations are $4 for adults, $3
for senior citizens over 55 on Thursdays, and $1 for children. School and
other groups are asked to please call ahead for an appointment. Contact
973-383-0015 for directions and appointments.
The museum is the grand home of the Rev. Elias VanBunshooten and dates back to
the late 1700s. The museum features many original family pieces from the VanBunschooten
/Cooper families. The lovely Dutch colonial home and the outbuildings will all
be open for viewing and touring. Also housed in the museum is a local genealogy
library.
