  Wantage Township Voter Registration Information
What Are The Criteria For Voter Registration in Wantage?
To register to vote in Wantage, New Jersey, you must be a United States citizen, you must be 18 years old by the next election, and you must be a resident of Sussex County for 30 days before the election.

What is the Registration Deadline Date?
You are allowed to register to vote any time you want.  However, in order to be eligible to vote in an upcoming election, a registration deadline exists.  The registration deadline to vote at the next election is 21 days prior to election day (In calendar year 2005, state law changed the deadline for voter registration from 29 days to 21 days prior to the election, effective 1/01/06).

Where can I get a Voter Registration Form?
Applications for voter registration can be obtained from the New Jersey Division of Elections, the Commissioner of Registration office in Sussex County, or the Wantage Municipal Clerk. Registration forms are also available in various State agencies and at Division of Motor Vehicle offices and can be obtained while transacting agency business. You can also print a registration application from the website link below, and after entering required information, mail it to the Sussex County Commissioner of Voter Registration office at 18 Church Street, Newton, NJ 07860.

Can I Fax or E-Mail My Voter Registration Form?
No.  The Commissioner of Registration cannot accept faxed copies or an electronic transmission of a voter registration form since an original signature is required.

Who Is Not Eligible For Voter Registration?
A person is not eligible to register to vote if he/she is serving a sentence or on parole or probation, as a result of a conviction of an indictable offense under state or federal law or if the person has been adjudged mentally incompetent.

What if I change my name, or move?
The Voter Registration Form can be used for either first time voter registration, or to report Name Change and/or Address Change information.  If you move from one county of New Jersey to another, you must re-register to vote within the registration deadline in order to be eligible to vote in your new county.

What about Political Party affiliation?
It is not required that you declare a political party when you register to vote.  You may do so if you desire, but you are not required to do so.  In the next few months, the official voter registration form of New Jersey will be revised to include an option for new registrants to choose a political party affiliation at the time of voter registration.

Where can I get more information?
The following link will bring you to the NJ Division of Elections website.  If you download the Voter Registration Form, make sure you mail the form to the Sussex County Commissioner of Registration, 18 Church Street, Newton, New Jersey 07860 http://www.state.nj.us/lps/elections/vote_doe.html
