have been held. All players must reside in the High Point sending district. Teams will play in the Skylands and Garden State Girls Basketball leagues. For more information call Wayne Dietz at 201-213-8984.
Travel Basketball Tryouts
The High Point Youth Travel Basketball program will again participate in the
Lakeland Basketball League. Boys from the High Point sending district wishing
to play at a higher level can try out for one of four grade levels: 4th/5th,
6th, 7th, and 8th. Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, October 20 at High Point
Regional High School, main gym. 5th and 6th grades will begin at 6:30; 7th and 8th grade tryouts begin at 7:30.
Coaches are needed at the 4th/5th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. Interested coaches
and players can contact Beth Lamon for more information at 973-948-5409.
Travel Basketball provides players with a more advanced and competitive
level of the game of basketball. The program includes traveling to various
locations, such as West Milford, Parsippany, Chester, Sparta, etc. for
more experience and exposure to players, teams and programs from towns
and locations outside our area. There is also a higher level of commitment
needed to play traveling basketball due to the fact that there are more
practices per week and about 20 games per season, which include tournament
and playoff games. If you are interested in a new challenge like this,
or if you would like to continue to advance your game in the sport of basketball,
this may be the program for you. The Sussex/Wantage, Branchville/Frankford,
and Lafayette Recreation Leagues will not be sponsoring traveling teams.
If your children would like to play travel basketball, the High Point Cats
and Lady Catz programs are an option for them.
To be eligible to tryout and play, players must attend High Point Regional District
Schools (Sussex/Wantage, Frankford, Lafayette) and reside in the High Point District.
It is recommended that you register your child for recreation basketball. The
recreation league registration check will be returned to you should your child
make one of the traveling teams. Please indicate on your registration form that
your child will be trying out for the Traveling Program.
