DAR Announces Winners of Good Citizens Contest
The Chinkchewunska Chapter of the NSDAR is pleased to announce the winners
of its good citizens contest. Seniors in local high schools were eligible
to enter the contest, sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Information submited was involvement
in school, home, work force, and community. Additionally, entrants wrote
an essay on a historical subject chosen on the National level of Daughters
of the American Revolution.
The Chinkchewunska Chapter of the DAR has honored three high school seniors
as Good Citizens 2010. Each student is selected based on the qualities
of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. The following three
students consistently met these qualities in their local high schools and
communities.
Hope VandenAkker is the outstanding citizen from High Point Regional High School. Hope has not firmed up her future plans. She is considering spending one year in the Americorp NCCC before heading off to college. Yet, she may choose to head straight to college. Whatever she ends up doing, she plans to major in Archaeology and Journalism.

Gina Orlando was selected from Kittatinny Regional High School. Gina will
be attending the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Biological Basis
of Behavior. She plans to pursue a career as a neuropsychologist.
Nicole Cusick represents Wallkill Valley Regional High School. Nicole plans
to attend a top university. She is waiting to hear from one of the nine
schools that she applied to. Nicole plans to major in Journalism.
These Good Citizens were honored at the NJDAR state level luncheon in March.
On April 24, they were guests of honor at a luncheon held at the
Van Bunschooten museum. Each girl received recognition and applause for
the gifts and talents that they have shared with their families and communities.
