DAR Announces Winners of Good Citizens Contest

The Chinkchewunska Chapter of the NSDAR is pleased to announce the winners of its good citizens contest. Seniors in local high schools were eligible to enter the contest, sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Information submited was involvement in school, home, work force, and community. Additionally, entrants wrote an essay on a historical subject chosen on the National level of Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Chinkchewunska Chapter of the DAR has honored three high school seniors as Good Citizens 2010. Each student is selected based on the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. The following three students consistently met these qualities in their local high schools and communities.

Hope VandenAkker is the outstanding citizen from High Point Regional High School. Hope has not firmed up her future plans. She is considering spending one year in the Americorp NCCC before heading off to college. Yet, she may choose to head straight to college. Whatever she ends up doing, she plans to major in Archaeology and Journalism.
