Happy 250th Birthday Wantage Township!
Wantage Township celebrated it's 250th birthday on May 22 at the Wantage School. Over 200 people attended the festivities.

History, Community, Family, Tradition

The Arnold family was recognized at the anniversary celebration on May 22 for winning the official motto for our 250th Anniversary.

Boy Scouts
were on hand all day
helping people set up
and then clean up
after the day's events.

Flowers were given to the residents who have lived in Wantage the longest.
Those residing in Wantage the longest are:

Violet Elston – 96 years
Elmer Smith – 92 years
Julia E. Prout – 91 years
John V. Kaweske – 89 years
Stella Ayers Kelsh – 85 years

Special recognition went to:
Mona Fuller – former Wantage resident for 96 years, now in Andover nursing home
Floyd Paugh – former Wantage resident for 84 years, now in Sussex Borough.

Bruce Kristensen and Henry Diguilio of the Garden State Black Powder Association had a display of tools and equipment that were used two centuries ago.

The group meets the last Sunday of the month at the Ricky Farm in Vernon

School Pride

School songs were sung by representatives of the three schools in our district. The Sussex Middle School Angels sang "Sussex Middle School", the fourth grade AEP chorus sang the Wantage School Song, and students from the Lawrence School sang the Clifton E Lawrence School song.

Tahir videotaped the events held in the auditorium on May 22.

The eighth grader has been involved with digital video for three years.

He taped until the last person was finished, unlike the television crew that packed up and left while storytellers were still speaking.
